I hope everyone enjoyed their extra long weekend! We have a busy week ahead, finishing up summer reading and moving on to our first book of the year!
All students will be presenting the artifacts for both of their summer reading books in their Period C classes this week. The day of presentations will be determined by the teacher. Honors students will also be required to write papers for English class based on their summer reading books. These papers will count as 10% of the first term grade. I will give students more information on this writing assignment in class this week.
As I mentioned above, we will also be starting our first piece of literature this week. The English 2 Honors class will be reading Lorraine Hansberry's play A Raisin in the Sun. The story takes place on the south side of Chicago during the late 1950s and addresses some of the social and cultural challenges and inequalities faced by African Americans and women during this time period.
I hope everyone is rested up and ready for a busy week!
Don't forget - school pictures are Friday during English class.
Please remember to check back here for assignment/homework updates daily.
